So I read that the amendment for recapture has been removed from the funding bill. Guess we are back to the start again? This really makes me to start hate the fact that we are held as the hostage of illegals

It is just not enough to add a new member to IV. In my opinion, we also need the new member to be proud of associating himself/herself with IV.
Here is what every new member needs to be made aware of-
- What IV has achieved in the last year of existence?
(Manager's amendment, media interviews including the Reuters article plus the last minute attempts in the lame-duck session)
- IV is the **only** grass-roots organization in the US working towards issues of Skilled Legal Immigration. The affected people in retrogression runs close to a million.
The thing I am driving at is that new members join and do not persist with IV because they have not been made aware of what IV is and what it has achieved.
It is not about IV core members alone, the issues at hand are affecting YOU!!!!

I have a question as follows. I was with an old company and transferred the H1 in the 9th year to the new company. I already had my Labor and I-140 approved with the old company (EB3-I Category).
After switching to this new company I had to start my PERM all over again as I missed the July 2007 boat and could not file for I-485. My new company is based in L.A.-California. I am already drawing my salary from new company. They only have office in L.A. I work for them from my home office in NJ. Today the company's attorney called & asked me that I needed to have L.A. residential address as it is required to be stated on the application. I have no intentions to move to L.A. in near future. I am in a fix now as to how to go about this. I will appreciate all you gurus and experts advice and also please advise me repercussions if any.
Please help.

Waiting is all we have been doing for so many years. I have been living separately from my wife for last 3 years. When I reached out to Pappu on IV, he refused to do anything for me. I am ready to come forward and talk to media but nobody is here to listen.
I am seriously considering some media awakening event these days, it might be suicide or whatever it takes but this DOS stupidity has to stop. Its affecting so many people's life. I agree GC is not a right that we can demand from US government but they can't treat us like this after investing so many productive years for this Economy.
I am also thinking of organizing an event around where I live which would me media spotlight. Legal immigrants like us esepcially EB folks need to be in news by doing something special(organizing a food drive for homeless, offering thrash cleaning in some place around .. etc,summary is volunteer in groups)
BTW no one thinks we are investing time here. We are paid for what we do, the matter ends there.

Does anyone know whether a case is assigned to an IO before or after a visa number is assigned? Or whether a visa number has got nothing to do with officer assignment?

H1Bs can't get EB1C. They need to be outside country in 1 out of 3 prceeding years. EB1C is intracompany transfer visa. Even if one is on H1B, they will be need to moved to L1A before they attempt this to my knowledge. Again we are not here to fix the world., we are here to fight for our cause and get going.. Lets be clear.. Most guys after getting their Citizenship, will also vote for republicans... So to me if we can somehow through, under, around get that visa recapture, we are all back to business my friend.. It is not a separate issue. It is the issue..

Even if USCIS bans these EB1 guys from GC ( a wild dream. multinational managers are a genuine role in this global economy) it won't fetch many visa numbers as some EB2 guys here are hoping. If you want to get your GC fast, fight the system ( country cap/insufficient visa numbers) unified.

I wouldn't pass such judgement on immigration-law.com. They've acknowledged the mistake. It's not like no one makes any mistakes, it's how they acknowledge and move forward.

Lawyers by profession hardly ever make statements, since their profession is to make sure what they state is 100% accurate. They are more like a news sensation organization, so please there is no need to defend them. But people like us that includes me want this thing to work so bad that we go to their website for our vested interest and to give us some hope. They are more like a blog than a legal web-site.

My H1B is also approved for Oct '07 and I had applied for H4 in July, but I have not got my approval notice. Now I have to travel to India in Nov. Is it possible to premium process H4 and then get it stamped from India?

I honestly feel there is no good way to get traction on this issue with the American government. The common masses are against immigration reform and even more so than usual right now because of the recession.
One possible solution is to really prove to the them that we have a choice. I don't know if there is a way to petition our companies to create offices in Canada. Say 1000 people at Microsoft in Seattle or Intel in Portland move to Vancouver. Canadians would love our income, sales and property taxes. And companies would truly like to save money on health benefits, while keeping employees happy and in the same timezone. Employees get green cards quickly. The only downside for the company is that employees are less tied down to their jobs.
Does this make sense?
