EAD, AP & FP notice are sent directly to the applicant. If you see the status of AP as document mailed then you should get within 2/3 days as they send by DHL. I got mine in 2 days, my wife also got in 2 days

Also, I would check with my friends about their support.
Would it be a good idea to mention the costs/efforts involved in this visa stamping tours.
Especially, all dependents including infants/kids need to go either to canada or India forcing to loose 3-4 days of vacation.
Neither of party's ( US gov nor Visa aspirants) are gaining any benefit.

amitjoey, Thanks. I have sent a request to my senator yesterday and also mailed them all the copies of the documents. Just hoping that will also help. I was told that my file is already assigned to an IO and you will soon hear from USCIS. "Soon" in USCIS dictionary seems to be 30 to 45 days and thats very scary s that means it will about 130 days. I am just hoping they will approve soon. After approving it seems they are taking additonal 30 days to print the card.

No she cant becuase her visa appointment is on Aug 13.
If her visa app. is Aug 13 (I assume it is at a consulate in your home country), she will not get her passport with visa stamped for atleast a few days. This is from FAQ section of chennai consulate in India. So plan accordingly.
When will I get my passport after the interview?
If you qualify for a visa, the passport with the visa will be returned to you by courier in a few days.
Can I get my passport immediately after the interview?
It is the policy of the Consulate to send your visa to you using our courier service.

Your spouse applied for H4/H1? Which one?
Thank you very much Dinesh for this. Currently my spouse's passport is stuck in the same place for god-only-knows-what reason. The embassy staff said they are auditing every 2nd-3rd application. We have the AP but we were thinking that if we withdraw the H1B application, the embassy people might stamp the passport saying "Application Received" which sometimes can be a euphemism for "Visa Denied". I once got such a stamp when visa was denied to me.
Since we would then always have to keep explaining at every stage why we have that stamp, that's why we are sticking on with H1B delay. We have been given the same time-frames as you were.
When you withdrew your passport to travel on AP, did they stamp your passport with any text? Also could you please tell us the procedure you followed to withdraw your passport and whether you could collect it in person? We have been asked to email the US Embassy for withdrawing from our H1B application.

Guys calm down and don't be defensive. You don't have to explain your successes to anyone. Lets be smart about this and lets learn from our past experiences.

Since i had gotten the email from USCIS that its in mail - so no surprises
- How did the long wait upset your life?
I only waited 7 months - so no upsets - even before my GC was filed - i was in US for only about 2 years or so - so no big deal - in those 2 years - my employer did not discriminate in terms of promotions/ pay hikes etc. I had bought a house even before my GC was filed and spouse could work because of my L1 status
- How did immigrationvoice help you during this long wait?
Not Applicable since IV is not really focused (and rightly so) on my GC category
- Would you like to continue your support to immigration voice and help others waiting?
Sure - some of my closest friends are in H1B and i see how the long wait affects them and their families - having said that - i like to make up my mind (rightly or otherwise) about which initiatives are good or bad/ effective or ineffective- so as and when I see initiatives i get excited about like flower campaign, letters to various lawmakers etc- happy to help
- Any advice for everyone?
GC and Citizenship should not prevent anyone from pursuing their career and personal dreams - if not US - there are other countries where your skills would be welcome. Personally - i have given priority to career and family life ahead of visa issues and rest has automatically fallen into place
Once anyone received his greencard, please update the IV tracker too. We like to see how many members in IV are greencard holders and what is the current trend of approvals in our membership

I read somewhere that doctors abroad who do the tests for consular processing cannot be used for AOS medicals.
u'll get RFE only if theres is a mistake in medicals, if there is NO medicals in the 485 packet, i think ur appln will be outright sent back.
whats ur PD, if its in the range of 2000 u still have hope that in next few months ur date becoems eligible for AOS.
ive heard that there are some doctors out there (of questionable integrity) who accept cash and give out medical reports. even tho this is a backdoor approach, u can make a few calls and give it a try. to make ur case more genuine, try to get a list of all attributes recorded in the blood and skin test, and get those done promptly done in india. atleast let the doctor copy over ur wifes actual stats rather than inventing it. If ur case is genuine, may be someone will be merciful to help u out of ur predicament.
Preponing visa interview without very valid reason cud be harmful. u never know, if they catch ur wife telling a lie then ull be walking on thin ice.
last year my friend visited india...he is on 7the year H1, and got 3 yrs extn based on 140. he had attached copy of approved 140 as proof...the chennai visa officer only asked him "is ur company paying for ur GC or you urself" ..he answered Company is paying full amount. and they gave him the visa. :-) if Govt is using approved 140 to give 3 yrs extn, obviously they know the intent to get GC...i dont believe telling truth that ur company is processing GC for you is going to harm you.

I closed my PPF account twice and never paid a single paisa. The second one I closed when I was in US and got the forms here through my old employer and Signed and send those form back to that employer , they filed it, Don'y know if they attached "NOC" but I got all of my money (close to INR80K) in 2 or 3 weeks at my home address in India.
I guess no one needs to pay money for to PPF in any state all you need tyo do is follow the proper instructions, It's as good as in any bank.

Politics of a region / state has nothing to do with this discussion. The school which got shutdown did not have 100% students from one region or country.
FYI All the Hawla, Bofors, Fodder scams, 2G scam did not even occur from the mentioned one state alone !
The state has / had best IIT coaching facilities ( you call it a manufacturing shop, I don't care). Which produced lot of good engineers, who genuine have completed their education in this country and added value here.
It is unfortunate that some people knew what they were doing and others were frustrated with long wait (esp H4's who have been waiting for ever in the retrogression even though their spouses had approved 140's for years) and were told to pursue a shady option saying it was legal by scrupulous body shops wanting to make money. A spouse from no other country other than India and China has to wait this long to EAD, even all the spouses of substitute labor are working on EAD's.
Dont make a blanket statement about corruption, every region has its problems. Even in this country money from recovered from freezers of politicians. Corrupt & Dishonest people exist every place.

I would like to know How to file a complaint about labor fraud? I just found out that my employer didn't file 485 for me and instead he used the labor for someone else. Is there anyway I can file a complaint? I have no other option except to wait until the dates are current again. I paid all the expenses for labor, 140 and 485.

International students come on F1 visa and get instate tuition fee from state universities. Our kids are on H4s so that will not qualify them to attend undergraduate in state schools? Is F1 required to get instate tuition fee? I am not understanding the situation here. Please somebody clarify if possible.
