It is dark age for immigrants in America. They are just inventing ways to harass people. There shouldn't be a reason to issue EAD or AP in time. They have increased the fees several folds in recent years. They want us to run pillar to post for everything, be it work permit, travel document, driver's license...Just discouraging aliens to live in this country.I am trying to understand the cause for this huge delay to issue either EAD or AP. Could it be due to a large number of I-485 filers in July 2007 that the agency is unable to handle the volume of requests (either for a new one or renewal)?
Has USCIS come up with any explanation as to why there is lot of delay to issue EAD renewals or new EADs? Could it be the US economy that is causing the drag on the agency?

I believe Mbhai did a dis-service by negating good advice. What is the guarantee that the 2nd women that this guy marries will not ask for divorce? The best thing he can do is find a way to reconcile, unless there is marital infidility.
I believe "snathan" story was inspiring and addressed the true problem of that individual and every indivudual's life. Trust me, when you all get your GC's ...it will be these things that will matter to all of you, rather than anything else.
hmm, i think munnabhai did the right thing.
sometimes people give irrelevant advice. one guy asks im getting divorced, what shud i do with respect to 485? if people tell him, stop worrying bout 485, focus on ur life and fix ur marraige, then its not helping him from a "forum" perspective.
thanks

But he doesn't have any voice,,,
Says who?
We don't even advocate for anything, just post things on the forum. IV has given us immigrants a platform - many of us don't even know it, let alone using it.
If we want to stay in this country, we need a president who can take this country progressively to the future instead of "lets take the country back" "this is not the country I grew up in" rhetoric! If this country goes backwards in time while the rest of the world embraces progress - guess what? - No use having a GC here.

Most people here fail to realize the cost if immigration is very heavy at a personal level, especially in globalized economy. If we assume that average wait time for Green Card is 7-9 years (earlier it use to be 4-6 years) consier the following:
1. Professional Growth: This one takes the biggest hit. I know many people at my work who have got GC in past 4-5 years after the usual wait time, they have hit the wall in the career front. Their peak productive years when they were to rise exponentially are gone in waiting. Now most of them are lost in corporate America looking for a place where they can somehow make up for the lost years. I don't think they have found it yet. Most believe that going to home countries might help to find that niche and make up for the growth. This solution might work when the economies of Asia are growing at 8-10%.
2. Financial Growth: A lot of investment opportunities are lost becasue no one wants to make a long term invetsment commitments in the state of limbo. Besides that most households have to live on single income source making their earnings below average household income. Even after getting GC one cannot make up for this loss. This creates a permanent under class and I not sure what kinds discontent it leads to.
3. Others: Family (Spouse's professional and others) and presonal stress that one has to go through during the wating years.
I wonder if there is a study outlining these impacts. This is become all the more relevant when the standard of living and opportunites at home are closing the gap rapidly. Getting GC use to outweigh these cost in the past (90's) but lately questions are bound raise on one's mind if this price is justified.
You are just nailing it. Well spelled out.

Always check with your state chapters.
State chapter leaders are more aware of our work than what we post on the forum for public.
There is lot of activity going on at this time. Everyone must join their state chapters to actively participate in IV effort.
There maybe some more news today. Hopefully... Stay tuned.
Will do so...

Immigration Voice will hold a rally and gathering in Washington DC on Sept 18th 2007.
Immigration Voice will be doing a huge rally of 10,000 plus members in Washington DC on September 18th. The route and timing will be announced shortly.
From 1 Million Skilled Workers Stuck in 'Immigration Limbo' America Faces 'Reverse Brain Drain' as Complicated Laws and Green Card Backlogs Send Asians Home By SUSAN DONALDSON JAMES | ABC News, Aug. 27, 2007: part 1 (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=158662&postcount=1019), part 2 (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=158664&postcount=1020)
Immigration Voice, a grassroots organization that represents the nation's skilled immigrants, expects 5,000 of its members to march in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 18 to press Congress for reform.
I've always believed that
if you put in the work,
the results will come.
I don't do things half-heartedly.
Because I know if I do,
then I can expect half-hearted results

Kid? Pot calling the kettle black?
I have seen idiots like you who don't have an answer to questions and end up simply diluting the discussion with unrelated topics!
If you consider yourself tough and someone with credibility, then provide an answer to my previous post. Punk!
Listen kid, i don't wanna get into a mud slinging immature tough-behind-the-keyboard match with you, i've seen you respond in here and its funny how you keep using the same line over and over again, lol.
Again, if you don't get the difference between the tone in a professional response against a personal opinion based lash-back then thats your problem not mine :)

So let me guess, your parent applied under 245(i) in 2001 and thats why you have aged out. No thanks, that 245(i) amnesty has caused us enough problems with the labor certification backlogs.
What was 245(i) amnesty?...just curious
Also, It is a big concern for me when when some EB visa holder's kid age out and is left out of the process. If someone can show me that this so called dream act will help in that, i will support it and do my part.
But Iam not getting on the field to bat for an illegal.

It for illegal folks.
The Senate is currently considering the FY 2008 Department of Defense Authorization (H.R. 1585). Senators Specter and Leahy have offered the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act as an amendment to the bill; and Senators Durbin, Hagel, and Lugar are planning to offer the DREAM Act as an amendment. Call your senators now and urge them to vote YES on these amendments!

Divorce in India takes a minimum 1 year to adjudicate if you were married less than 1 year. Otherwise, it is up to the discretion of the judge. Courts in India require a 'cooling period', with 'counseling / mediation'. Latter is basically a a sham.
That said, as a trained mediator, and negotiator, I would say ... a win-win outcome is always better for all parties. What happens to be 'win-win' is of course subjective.
Good luck in whatever you do! Trust me, things always work out well in the end.

What, are you 4 yrs. old man? If one works sincerely towards the cause, then he will realize the answer themselves, please try & think about that. Please help us work towards the goal. Nothing happens overnight, hope you are old & experienced enough to realize that or you must be an armchair quarterback. Please listen to "Time" by Pink Floyd & get your priorities straight.

(1) first, USCIS and the FBI conducted a joint risk assessment which resulted in process improvements that permit us to focus on cases of concern (2) second, USCIS and FBI have allocated additional resources to the process. Over the next year, USCIS is planning to commit a total of $15.5 million to address the backlog of FBI name checks.
Number (1) is so darn ambiguous. Typical USCIS, FBI bullshit.
